All 100 Rice Purity Test questions explained

The Rice Purity Test has 100 yes-or-no questions in five categories: Romance (15), Intimacy (43), Substances (10), Legal (10) and Experiences (22). You tick every one you have done, and your score is 100 minus the number of ticks. Below, every question is explained in plain English so you know exactly what counts, and what doesn’t, before you answer.

Key takeaways

How the questions are organised

Rice Purity Test romance questions (1–15)

The first 15 questions cover dating, kissing and relationships. They are usually the first ones people tick.

  1. Held hands with someone in a romantic way? Any hand-holding with romantic feelings behind it counts, even once. Holding a friend's or family member's hand does not.
  2. Gone out on a proper date with someone? A planned outing where you both understood it was a date — dinner, a film, a walk. Group hangouts usually don't count unless it was clearly a date.
  3. Been in a committed romantic relationship? An exclusive relationship where you both agreed you were together. Length doesn't matter.
  4. Danced closely with someone in an intimate way? Slow dancing or dancing pressed close with romantic or flirty intent — not just dancing near someone at a party.
  5. Kissed someone who is not a family member? Any romantic kiss, including a quick peck, with someone outside your family.
  6. Shared a kiss on the lips with someone? A kiss on the lips specifically, as opposed to a kiss on the cheek.
  7. Experienced a French kiss? A kiss with tongue (open-mouthed kissing).
  8. French kissed someone in a public place? French kissing somewhere other people could see you — a party, the street, a club.
  9. Kissed someone on the neck? Kissing someone's neck as part of making out.
  10. Kissed while lying down together? Kissing while lying on a bed, sofa or the floor together.
  11. Given or received a hickey (love bite)? A hickey is a bruise-like mark left by sucking or kissing the skin, usually on the neck. Giving or getting one counts.
  12. Kissed or been kissed on the chest? Kissing on the chest area, giving or receiving.
  13. Kissed someone below the waist? Kissing anywhere below the waistline in a romantic or sexual way.
  14. Kissed continuously for more than two hours? A long, near-continuous make-out session of more than two hours. Short breaks are fine; separate kisses across an evening are not.
  15. Been unfaithful in a relationship? Cheating on a partner in any way you both would have considered a betrayal — physically or romantically.
