What Does a Rice Purity Score Below 50 Mean?

Rice purity score below 50: what it means

A rice purity score below 50 means more than half of the 100 statements apply to you. On our test, 40–49 is labelled Experienced, 20–39 Very Adventurous and 0–19 Wild Card. It reflects a wide range of life experiences, and nothing more than that.

What usually leads to a score below 50?

Scores under 50 typically include most of the Romance and Intimacy sections, many of the Substances items and a large share of the everyday Experiences. The lower the score, the more likely it is that some of the more serious Substances or Legal items are ticked too.

40s, 30s, 20s and below

A score in the 40s usually reflects a broad but not extreme mix of experiences. Scores in the 20s and 30s typically involve most of the list, including some of the riskier items. Scores under 20 are rare and usually mean almost every statement applies.

Context for low scores

Very low scores are less common because the bottom of the list includes serious items, such as hard drugs, arrests or convictions, that most people never experience. Many people who score in the 40s have simply had full social and romantic lives over a number of years.

Remember that the test was created as a light-hearted student tradition. If your score prompts jokes from friends, take it in that spirit, and only share it if you want to.

Is a low score bad?

No. The test counts experiences, many of which are ordinary parts of adult life, and it can't tell which ones were positive. That said, if any of the items you ticked involved situations that worried you, such as substance use or legal trouble, it's always fine to talk to someone you trust or a professional.
